During these sessions, regulators decide on key interest rates and other monetary policy stances, such as quantitative easing and prudential policy (whether they should be changed). We recommend that traders keep an eye on these events as they may cause a significant impact. The Open Market Committee (Fed’s division) makes the interest rate decision eight times a year, where 12 members vote for the rate level changes. The distribution of the votes cast is immediately known after the meeting.
Dates of the Fed’s interest rate decision meetings in 2022: January 26, March 16, May 4, June 15, July 27,
September 21, November 2, and December 14.
Updates appear at 18:00 GMT (19:00 DST).
The minutes of the last Open Market Committee meeting are then published three weeks later.
The interest rate decision is made by the BoE Monetary Policy Committee 8 times a year.
Updates appear at 11:00 GMT (12:00 DST). The Monetary Policy Committee includes nine members.
Dates of the BoE interest rate decisions in 2022: February 3, March 17, May 5, June 16, August 4, September 22,
November 3, December 15.
The minutes are published simultaneously with the MPC decision.
The interest rate decision is made by the Governing Council of the European Central Bank.
Updates appear at 12.15 GMT (13:15 DST). After a decision is made, a press conference is held 30 minutes
later.
Dates of the ECB interest rate decision meetings in 2022: February 3, March 10, April 14, June 9, July 21, September
8, October 27, and December 15.
The interest rate decision is made by the Governing Council of the Bank of Japan at monetary policy meetings.
The decision is known between 3-5am GMT.
Dates of the BoJ interest rates decision meetings in 2022: January 18, March 18, April 28, June 18, July 21,
September 22, October 28, and December 20.
The Swiss National Bank makes interest rate decisions four times a year announcing the results at 07:30 GMT (08:30 DST).
Dates of the SNB interest rate decision meetings in 2022: March 24, June 16, September 22, and December 15.
The Bank of Canada makes interest rate decisions eight times a year, announcing the results at 13:00 GMT (14:00 DST).
Dates of the BoC interest rates decision meetings in 2022: January 26, March 2, April 13, June 1, July 13, September
7, October 26, and December 7.
The Bank of Australia’s interest rate decision meeting occurs 11 times a year, with the result announced at 03:30 GMT (04:30 DST).
Dates of the RBA interest rate decision meetings in 2022: February 1, March 1, April 5, May 3, June 7, July 5, August
2, September 6, October 4, November 1, and December 6.
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand makes its interest rate decision, like the US Fed, eight times a year, announcing the
results at 01:00 GMT (02:00 DST).
Dates of the RBNZ interest rate decision meetings in 2022: February 23, April 13, May 25, July 13, August 17,
October 5, and November 23.
